Rain Forest of Brazil

Cherry parquet flooring is the process of using natural cherry wood in the design and manufacture of floors by the use of plank patterns. Cherry is a type of hardwood that was used for flooring purposes in some homes from the early 2000s.

The wood came to be known as Brazilian Cherry for marketing purposes due to its deep red color. The timber originates from the rain forests of Brazil and is one of the hardest woods ever known.

Why install cherry parquet flooring?
Elegant Ambience

Cherry wood's dark reddish-brown colour exudes a atmosphere of elegance ambience within a premises' interiors. It has dark stripes that appeared as attractive streaks to break the monotony of the reddish tone.

Rot & Termite Resistant

Due to cherry wood's hardness, it possess both rot and termite resistant properties, making it a wise investment in the long term.

Climate Condition

Cherry parquet wood flooring comes in two designs when used as a flooring material. The first type is the solid hardwood which occurs in the usual two standard sizes. The second design is the cheaper engineered wood that is a mixture of solid cherry wood (wear layer) and several layers of plywood glued together. Because of the multiple wood properties, cherry engineered wood flooring is perfectly suitable for areas of high moisture and humidity, a typical climate condition in Singapore.

Precaution and Maintenance

The first precaution in dealing with cherry carpet flooring is to avoid excessive water coming into contact with the wood. Excessive water and steam usually dulls the finish and may cause damage to the wood itself. Cherry parquet floors are different from tiles. It is advisable to avoid wet mops and steam mops while cleaning.

The most effective way of maintenance for cherry floors is by undertaking small but regular cleans. Do not leave dirt and dust to pile up that will contribute to scratching. Avoid this by regular vacuuming or simple sweeps. For longer lasting cherry parquet floors, it is proper to lay a carpet, or even rags, on the floor to reduce the surface in contact with dirt.

To slow down the rate of darkening of cherry wood, avoid direct exposure to sunlight and mandatory application of water-based varnish.
